A recent New York Times exposé revealed rampant child labor violations in the U.S. where migrant children are often employed in dangerous industries, including protein processing. Mexico’s government and the Department of Labor have responded and committed to greater protections for children who may be vulnerable to labor exploitation.

Emergency Allotments ended on February 28 for SNAP benefit recipients, and the Delaware Division of Social Services has a variety of resources available in English, Haitian Creole, and Spanish to explain the changes and point those experiencing food insecurity to additional resources.

The Dorchester County Department of Health will be hosting a Women’s Health and Resource Night TOMORROW, Wednesday March 8, from 5 to 7 PM ET at the Chesapeake Grove Intergenerational Center in Cambridge. Many health resources including COVID-19 vaccines and boosters will be available.

Virginia

The renewal process for Virginia Medicaid recipients will start soon, and our PPP partner LAJC encourages those who are enrolled in Medicaid to act quickly when they receive their renewal packages, as early as March 17. For more information, check out LAJC’s recent posts in Spanish and English.

The East Coast Migrant Head Start Project provides a variety of support to families that work in agriculture, including poultry and seafood, to support the development of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Learn more here.
