COVID-19 News

  • Not only do vaccines lower the risk of hospitalization and death due to COVID-19 but growing evidence also suggests that vaccines lower the risk of suffering from long COVID.  The CDC explains that while more studies are needed to determine the effects of vaccination on post-COVID-19 symptoms, preventing COVID-19 illness to begin with is the best way to avoid suffering from post-COVID conditions.
  • Moderna will ask the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to authorize its COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 6 months through 5 years after initial results from Moderna’s study have demonstrated the vaccine to be effective in that age group.
  • Last week, CDM hosted an information session about how to support workers who were injured on the job in Maryland and beyond. You can view the Spanish and English recordings of the session on the Health Within Our Reach website.

When Governor Youngkin took office in January, he asked the board to reconsider the rule. Unions and worker advocates say the rule is necessary so that employers have specific guidelines to follow to limit COVID-19 transmission in the workplace and protect workers from reprisals if they contract COVID-19.
