This week marks the 3rd anniversary since the U.S. federal government declared a national emergency due to COVID-19, setting in motion a series of extraordinary public policies known collectively as the emergency declarations. The Biden Administration recently announced that the emergency declarations will expire on May 11. For this Weekly Update, we’re taking the opportunity to share some resources on what the future of COVID-19 looks like.

Virginia

  • The Central Shenandoah Health District will discontinue its COVID-19 hotline on March 30. The Virginia Department of Health will continue to operate a statewide hotline, accessible Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM, at 1-877-829-4682.

North Carolina

  • Register now for the North Carolina Farmworker Institute on April 20. This year’s theme is Technology, Equity, and Health.

  • The South Carolina Department of Health and Human services will be reinstating eligibility checks for Medicaid on April 1 as a consequence of the end of the public health emergency. This reinstatement of checks could lead to the loss of coverage for many South Carolinians.

Georgia

  • Next Monday, March 27, from 9 AM to 2 PM, you can get free COVID-19 and flu vaccines as well as at-hone COVID-19 test kits at the Colombian Consulate in Atlanta! More event info here.
