January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, and our PPP partner, Sur Legal, published these videos in Spanish and English to help organizations that serve immigrant workers to screen for labor abuse.
You’ve got a runny nose – could it be a cold, the flu, COVID, or RSV? Use this interactive chart from the New York Times to help understand which symptoms are more characteristic of certain illnesses. Take a COVID test to be sure, and if you’re out of at-home tests, don’t forget that you can order 4 more free tests from the U.S. government.

Cases of COVID-19 are on the rise, but CDC data continues to demonstrate that those who are vaccinated, particularly those who received the updated booster, are not nearly as likely to die from COVID-19 as those who are unvaccinated. Unvaccinated older adults (represented by the pink and purple dashed lines in the graph below) continue to be at greatest risk for death due to COVID-19. Once again, stay up to date with vaccinations, and encourage your loved ones to do the same.

Check out this five session webinar series, entitled, “Facts or Fakes? Promoting Health Literacy Skills with Your Students,” focused on how to teach college students about digital health literacy.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, January 11, the Latin American Community Center will host a mobile clinic from 10 AM to 2 PM at 301 N. Harrison St. in Wilmington. A variety of health services will be available, including flu and COVID-19 vaccines.

Just a reminder that Somerset County Health Department (8928 Sign Post Rd. in Westover) offers free COVID-19 testing every Tuesday from 9:30 to 11:30 AM.

The Central Shenandoah Health District will host events at Embrace Community Center (932 Fir Street in Waynesboro) TODAY, January 10 and on January 24 from 3 to 6 PM where COVID-19 bivalent boosters, at-home COVID tests, and other resources will be available.

Due to rising COVID-19 cases, all but two counties in South Carolina are now designated as medium or high according to CDC community levels. Check the status of the county where you live, consider masking to protect yourself and others, and stay up-to-date on vaccinations.
