South Carolina

  • recent study from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) found that in late 2020, South Carolina residents were more hesitant to be vaccinated against COVID-19 than Americans as a whole. The study, published in the Journal of Psychiatry Research, found that South Carolinians residents both expressed lower confidence in science backing the vaccine, and also felt less collective responsibility to protect their community through vaccination, than non-South Carolinian residents around the United States.  Researchers hope that these factors will help inform vaccine confidence approaches in the future.
