At present, the federal government program that reimbursed hospitals and clinics for COVID-19 testing and treatment for uninsured patients is no longer accepting claims. If you hear of uninsured individuals being turned away for testing or treatment, please contact katie@cdmigrante.org.
The CDC now recommends a 2nd booster dose (a 4th shot for someone who received the primary series of an mRNA vaccine plus an additional booster) for anyone over 50 and immunocompromised individuals. Booster uptake remains low in the U.S., as less than 50% of those who are fully vaccinated have received a booster.
Last Wednesday, the White House announced the launch of covid.gov, a one-stop-shop website that allows people in the U.S. to find COVID-19 resources, from free high-quality masks to COVID-19 tests and treatment, including Pfizer’s antiviral pill. The White House also launched the “test and treat” program, which allows individuals who test positive for COVID-19 at a pharmacy to immediately receive antiviral medication.
Last week, CDM accompanied migrant worker women in supplementing a complaint under the USMCA agreement, citing instances of gender-based discrimination and sexual harassment faced by women seeking employment through the H-2B temporary worker program. Attempts to resolve these issues occur just days after the Department of Labor and Department of Homeland Security announced an additional 35,000 H-2B visas available for the second half of Fiscal Year 2022 (FY22).
