  • Last Thursday, CDM, in collaboration with Migrant Clinicians Network, hosted a Facebook Live on its Contratados Facebook page that focused on long COVID.   • The White House committed last Thursday to expanding its Test-to-Treat program, launching additional federally-funded sites in coming weeks to increase access to antiviral pills. The Biden Administration suggests that the program expansion will help keep people out of the hospital and save lives. Find a Test-to-Treat location near you at aspr.hhs.gov/TestToTreat
  • A recent study across 61 school districts in the U.S. demonstrated that universal masking requirements diminish COVID-19 transmission compared to optional masking policies: Universal masking was associated with a 72% reduction in secondary transmission compared with optional masking.

  • The Dorchester County Department of Health has released its vaccination clinic schedule for the month of June in English and Spanish, and homebound individuals who are unable to attend a clinic can schedule vaccinations on Fridays by calling 410-228-0235.

Virginia

  • The first case of monkeypox has been identified in Virginia. At this time, the risk to the general public is low, but person-to-person transmission can occur from prolonged close contact, contact with bodily fluids, or contact with contaminated items such as clothing or linens of an infected person. The CDC currently recommends that clinicians be on the lookout for rashes consistent with monkeypox.
  • The Virginia Department of Health published these bilingual graphics (Spanish and English) that explain the different symptoms of COVID-19, seasonal allergies, a cold, the flu, and strep throat. Getting tested remains the best way to confirm a COVID-19 infection.
