COVID-19 News

  • Have you seen the updated booster resources available on Health Within Our Reach? Check out the social media graphics and FAQ flier, available in Spanish and English, designed to support your outreach efforts as you talk to community members about staying up-to-date on their COVID-19 vaccinations.
  • Can you get the new COVID-19 booster and your flu shot at the same time? YES! The CDC says that side effects and our bodies’ immune response are generally the same regardless of whether we get one or two vaccines at a time. The CDC recommends that you get a flu shot by the end of October, so get that flu shot and COVID-19 booster so that you and your loved ones can stay healthy this fall and winter.
  • One of our PPP partners, Migrant Clinicians Network, recently wrote an Op-Ed for the Baltimore Sun regarding the continued challenges migrants and immigrants face in accessing COVID-19 vaccination, especially as COVID-19-related funding is reduced. They also highlighted the work of the Lower Shore Vulnerable Populations Task Force, in which many of our partners participate, as a model for outreach and focused community engagement.
  • Have you been asking yourself when the pandemic will be over? World leaders have started to express hope that the end of the pandemic could be in sight, while still acknowledging the ongoing risks posed by variants, especially to vulnerable groups like the elderly. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), said last week“We have never been in a better position to end the pandemic. We’re not there yet, but the end is in sight. A marathon runner does not stop when the finish line comes into view; she runs harder with all the energy she has left.”The WHO released six policy briefs to help guide governments as COVID-19 moves towards becoming a manageable risk. The policy briefs include topics like testing, increasing vaccination, and community engagement to build trust and mitigate misinformation, all of which are areas of focus among our PPP partners.
